Dr. Sunil S Adav

Biography

Sunil S Adav obtained a Ph.D. in biochemistry, after which he worked as a  Quality Control Manager in the pharmaceutical industry for about five years. He then joined academic research as a postdoctoral fellow at National Taiwan University, Taiwan, where he spent six years working on state-of-the-art microbial aerobic granulation technology and contributed significantly to the applications of this technology for biological wastewater treatment and bioremediation. Then, he went on to focus on the proteomics technology for microbiological, biological, and clinical research at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore.  He has received multidisciplinary research training in microbiology, proteomics, and neuroscience from National Taiwan University, Taiwan, and Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. He used Liquid Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (LC-MS) spectroscopic techniques to investigate microbial secretome and its application in bioenergy. His current research focus is to discover non-enzymatic, spontaneous post-translational protein modifications (degenerative protein modifications) and study their role in aging and age-associated disorders. Besides his research, Sunil is an active sporty person.
